PetTech Pet CPR & First Aid Class – Coming in November.Coming Soon
I became passionate about dog training in 2001 as an owner of a dog-reactive dog.
I was searching for a mentor to help me and my dog build a better relationship with each other, and the world around us. My mentor walked me through the science behind dog training, and together, we overcame the fear-based reactivity in my own dog. I was inspired by the positive reinforcement techniques I had learned and wanted to give others the gift of effective, force-free dog training.
Over the last decade, I have had the privilege of interacting with dogs through my role as a dog trainer, assistant trainer, dog walker, doggy daycare group handler, and Nashville Humane Association volunteer. My goal is to strengthen the bond between pets and their parents through positive training experiences.
I am a Certified Professional Dog Trainer, as well as
a member of the Pet Professional Guild (member number 48310054.)
I’m always learning more about science-based training techniques at conferences
and seminars around the country. I also hold a certificate in applied animal behavior
through the University of Washington. I am also an AKC CGC and Trick Dog Evaluator.

I’ve always loved having dogs in my life, and my current dog is actually what led me to becoming a trainer. He was high energy, leash reactive, and very persistent. We worked on advanced obedience, some therapy dog training, service dog training even, beginner agility, beginner scent work, and lots of fun tricks! He was so eager to learn, and it strengthened our bond the more we worked together.
During my journey of becoming a professional dog trainer, I was led astray into the world of aversive training methods. However, I started noticing subtle changes in the dogs’ overall behavior, they became more timid and were not showing their fun personalities as time progressed, some even started showing reactive behavior. I knew there had to be a better way, so I started focusing on using positive training methods to build up their confidence. The results were amazing! Personalities started showing again, and most importantly, they were no longer timid and were trusting their human companions again. From these moments, I fell in love with positive training all over again.
In the past 2 years, I’ve had the joy of working with dogs as a doggy daycare kennel tech, assistant/head trainer for board and train and private programs, and a trainer for group classes. I strive to keep dogs happily coexisting and thriving in their human companions’ homes, building the bond and trust between dogs and humans through a positive training journey. I’m currently preparing for my trainer certification through the Certification Council for Professional Dog Trainers, and am Pet CPR and first aid certified.

I have been passionate about dogs for as long as I can remember. Dog was the very first word I spoke. After achieving a Bachelor’s Degree in Audio Engineering and working closely with artists for over a decade in the music business, I decided to get back to my original passion and apply my refined communication skills to a career in dog training.
I am thankful to be the guardian of an affectionate, goofy boxer named Gizmo and I largely credit him for this path. When I brought him home I did not know he was deaf. Upon quickly realizing that he was different, I entrenched myself in research about force-free, positive reinforcement training. As I began working with him, any initial worries I had about being able to communicate with him quickly faded away. Training a deaf dog wasn’t harder than training a regular dog, it was just different. I was amazed at how attentive, eager and smart he was as well as how training together was not only fun, but fostered a bond like no other I’ve had with a dog. I was hooked.
I began working at a doggy daycare which led to my pursuits as a dog trainer. I am dedicated to continuing education and believe scientifically-sound techniques, compassion and a focus on dogs’ welfare are paramount in effective, humane training. I strive to provide people with the knowledge and skills they need to foster positive relationships with their dogs and set them up for a lifetime of success together!
