My name is Maya Grijalva and I have been pet-sitting as an independent contractor since 2010. I have a master’s degree in psychology from the University of Houston at Clear Lake, and worked as a therapist in Clear Lake and Baytown for five years. After the birth of my son, I decided to stay at home and worked part time in retail. In 2004, my mother was diagnosed with progressive dementia/Alzheimer’s and I cared for her full time at home for the next six years until she passed away in late 2010. While I was caring for my mother, I realized that my dream was to care for animals. My passion for animals led me to volunteer for rescue organizations, such as “Finally Home” and “Second Chance Pets” (for whom I currently volunteer). At home, I am proudly owned by 15 cats, exotic frogs, three land turtles, two aquatic turtles and a lizard. Geriatric and special needs cats and dogs are my heartfelt passion.
I have specific training in:
-Administering subcutaneous fluids, inhalers, insulin and injections
-Administering medications
-Wound and post-hospitalization care
-Certified in CPR for cats and dogs
I also provide standard pet services:
-Dog walks
-Feeding your pets and providing a peaceful home environment
-Taking in mail, watering plants, taking out the trash
-Providing daily updates and photos while you are away
I am bonded and insured and provide the best loving compassionate care possible for our furry friends.
