If your pooch has matted locks, or if your dog is way too scruffy, Doggy Daze will primp and preen to make your puppy fluffy!
20 years ago Sean Kirk-Valenzuela left the rat race and went to the dogs. Literally. Sean quit his corporate job, sold his house, took a leap of faith and opened his first grooming salon, teaching himself everything about dog grooming and running a successful business. Since then, Sean has snipped and clipped, washed and dried, combed and brushed thousands of dogs. High class purebreds and lowly, rescued mutts alike all get the star treatment at Doggy Daze, a full-service dog grooming salon located in the North Central Phoenix. Sean renovated the vacant space with his business partner, Jon Thompson, six years ago, where they began welcoming dogs needing a puppy pampering.
“We’re open seven days a week and thanks to 24 dedicated paid employees, we’re a successful and valuable part of our neighborhood and business landscape,” said Sean. During some of the darkest days of the COVID-19 pandemic, Doggy Daze continued to safely serve their clients, except for a 12 day quarantine. “We paid our entire crew while we were closed; we had to. It was during the holidays and they were depending on us. They need us, Jon and I need them, and we’re grateful for their loyalty,” he said. None of their employees were laid off due to a sinking economy.
Community outreach is a hallmark at Doggy Daze. They gave away large bags of dog food to all government employees who were furloughed or let go due to the Government shut down in 2019; all free. In six years they’ve also donated over 20,000 pounds of kibble to Chuckwaggin.org, a charity helping to feed cats and dogs of the financially disadvantaged. In Sean’s 20 years in the industry, he’s raised over $260,000 for various dog rescues and is the key sponsor for “Paws for a Cause” an Aunt Rita’s Foundation, a vital non-profit clearinghouse collaborating with Arizona’s HIV/AIDS services organizations and overseeing funds for critical services for prevention and treatment programs throughout the state.

Doggy Daze has been awarded, year after year, “Best Dog Grooming Salon” in Phoenix New Times, “Best Pet Shop” PHOENIX magazine, “Best Groom Shop” Expertise.com and they’ve been honored by City of Phoenix Pride with the organization’s “Spirit Award.”
Sean and Jon both work side by side along with their staff daily. Dog hair is their glitter. The conscientious gang at Doggy Daze work together to bathe, brush, baby and beautify over 800 dogs a week for their satisfied clients. Each canine from Affenpinscher to Zuchon (and everything in between) becomes part of the pack at Doggy Daze happy growl ’n’ howl puppy parlor in the heart of Phoenix.Sure, it’s a lot of work, but it has great rewards. The best? “I get to smooch the pooch each and every day,” laughs Sean.
