Starting July 14, 2021, the U.S. Centers for Disease Control (CDC) has issued a temporary suspension of dogs (carry-on or checked), including fully-trained service dogs, traveling to the U.S. from a country considered high-risk for dog rabies.
Only service dogs traveling to the U.S. from high-risk countries with an approved CDC Dog Import Permit may fly on American. Cats from high-risk countries will not be accepted as carry-on or checked pets during the suspension.
